For tea tonight I made soup from the leaves of my beetroots and it was a huge hit - even the children loved it. Has anyone tried it? if not please give it a go - it's packed with goodness:- Melt a knob butter in a saucepan, rinse and chop the leaves and stalks, put them in the pan and gently cook until soft. Add your stock (I used chicken stock) and cook until the stalks are soft, which took about 5 mins. then liquidise. A little salt and pepper 'to taste' and scrummy - how simple is that? !!!!!

Hello All,
I have a half square meter patch of beetroot. The beetroots are small but the leaves are large, so I want to eat the leaves. Could you please let me know whether they can be eaten before I kill myself.
Thanks,
Buddy

Hello Buddy,
Do not eat the beet root leaves nor kill yourselves. We want your jolly company for quite a few more years.

emails from Tissa and Nana

Hi!

I am delighted that this has come to fruition. I would not be able to attend this initial meeting. Please appreciate that my offer of computers is still open - based on the provision of a high speed internet connection being available in the library.

Nana: I also want to thank you for your kind words of encouragement while I was ill. I returned home about a week back and slowly catching up on things.

All the best,

Tissa

Alumni Association, Faculty of Medicine, Colombo

Dear Philip

Please share this 'exciting hot news' with our batch mates.

Some of you may remember we made a 'presentation of Essential Library Books, 9 computors, essential teaching material for use in the Physiology Department etc to the Colombo Medical Faculty to commemorate our Reunion.
At this presentation, we made proposal to the Dean ( Prof. Harsha Senevirathna) & the Senior Academic Staff for the establishment of a Colombo Medical Faculty Alumni Association and a Alumni Trust Fund.
Prof. Senevirathna responded by delegating the huge task to a sub committee. We have continued to liaise with the Dean & the subcommittee since last July. Within a year we are so delighted to note that the long overdue Alumni Association is becoming a reality.
We are very proud to share the latest exciting hot news that there is a dazzling light at the end of the tunnel and all our dreams are coming true.

If you do not believe me,Here is the official proclamation sent out by the Organisers

My special thanks to the Dean & the Sub committee members and all those who supported us in various ways with all the useful suggestions and encouragement.

Best wishes
Nana

Karals informs me that Tissa has returned home after his long hospital stay. He might need another 3 months for convalescence. He is deeply appreciative for all the support and messages given by the batch.
