A dance performed to Carnatic music by pretty Chinese lassies

The song is a popular Tamil song about Lord Krishna - 'Brindawanamum Nandhakumaranum...'. I think that it is sung in Telungu in this video. Wait a few minutes for the video to load and click on the arrow-head with your speakers on. Videoo forwarded by Kamalini Kanapathippillai.

Vehicle ownership in Sri Lanka.

Every third person owns a vehicle in Sri Lanka
March 23, 2016, Island by Dasun Edirisinghe
Nearly one in every three persons owns a vehicle in Sri Lanka, according to a recent survey, Transport and Civil Aviation Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva says. The minister said the country had 6.3 million vehicles at present for a population of 21 million. The minister was addressing a seminar in Badulla organised to educate driving instructors of Moneragala, Badulla, Ampara and Ratnapura Districts on Monday

Vehicle Ownership

 According to Wikipedia the motor vehicle ownership rate for Sri Lanka in 2012 was 76 per 1000 persons. If the Minister's figure of 1 in 3 is correct it should be 333 per 1000 persons. So the question arises if the Minister included bicycles and bullock carts also in his calculation !

       Some comparative figures for motor vehicle ownership per 1000 persons are as follows:

519

The Back Nine

email from

milroybdes@aol.com

11:38 (19 hours ago)

No, not about golf
 !

THE BACK NINE

I FIRST STARTED READING THIS EMAIL & WAS READING FAST UNTIL I REACHED THE THIRD SENTENCE.
I STOPPED AND STARTED OVER READING SLOWER AND THINKING ABOUT EVERY WORD.
THIS EMAIL IS VERY THOUGHT PROVOKING. MAKES YOU STOP AND THINK.
READ SLOWLY!

AND THEN IT IS WINTER

You know ... time has a way of moving quickly and catching you unaware of the passing years.
It seems just yesterday that I was young, just married and embarking on my new life with my mate.
Yet in a way, it seems like eons ago, and I wonder where all the years went.
I know that I lived them all. I have glimpses of how it was back then and of all my hopes and dreams.

But, here it is... the back nine of my life and it catches me by surprise...
How did I get here so fast?
Where did the years go and where did my youth go?

I remember well seeing older people through the years and thinking that those older people were years away from me and that I was only on the first hole and the back nine was so far off that I could not fathom it or imagine fully what it would be like.

But, here it is...
my friends are retired and getting gray...
they move slower and I see an older person now.
Some are in better and some worse shape than me...but, I see the great change...Not like the ones that I remember who were young and vibrant...but, like me, their age is beginning to show and we are now those older folks that we used to see and never thought we'd become.

Each day now, I find that just getting a shower is a real target for the day!
And taking a nap is not a treat anymore... it's mandatory! Cause if I don't on my own free will... I just fall asleep where I sit!

And so...now I enter into this new season of my life unprepared for all the aches and pains and the loss of strength and ability to go and do things that I wish I had done but never did!!
But, at least I know, that though I’m on the back nine, and I'm not sure how long it will last...this I know, that when it's over on this earth...it's over. A new adventure will begin!
Yes, I have regrets.
There are things I wish I hadn't done...things I should have done, but indeed, there are many things I'm happy to have done. It's all in a lifetime.

So, if you're not on the back nine yet...let me remind you, that it will be here faster than you think.
So, whatever you would like to accomplish in your life please do it quickly! Don't put things off too long!! Life goes by quickly. So, do what you can today, as you can never be sure whether you’re on the back nine or not!

You have no promise that you will see all the seasons of your life...so, live for today and say all the things that you want your loved ones to remember...and hope that they appreciate and love you for all the things that you have done for them in all the years past!

"Life" is a gift to you.
The way you live your life is your gift to those who come after. Make it a fantastic one.LIVE IT WELL! ENJOY TODAY! DO SOMETHING FUN! BE HAPPY ! HAVE A GREAT DAYRemember "It is health that is real wealth and not pieces of gold and silver
LIVE HAPPY IN 2016!

LASTLY, CONSIDER THIS:
~Your kids are becoming you......but your grandchildren are perfect!
~Going out is good.. Coming home is better!
~You forget names.... But it's OK because some people forgot they even knew you!
~You realize you're never going to be really good at anything like golf.
~The things you used to care to do, you aren't as interested in anymore, but you really do care that you aren't as interested.
~You sleep better on a lounge chair with the TV 'ON' than in bed. It's called "pre-sleep".
~You miss the days when everything worked with just an "ON" and "OFF" switch..
~You tend to use more 4 letter words ... "what?"..."when?"... ?
~You notice everything they sell in stores is "sleeveless"?
~What used to be freckles are now liver spots.
~Everybody whispers.
~You have 3 sizes of clothes in your closet.... 2 of which you will never wear.

~~~But Old is good in some things: Old Songs, Old movies, and best of all,OLD FRIENDS!!
Stay well, "OLD FRIEND!" Send this on to other "Old Friends!" and let them laugh in AGREEMENT!
It's Not What You Gather, But What You Scatter That Tells What Kind Of Life You Have Lived.
TODAY IS THE OLDEST YOU'VE EVER BEEN; YET THE YOUNGEST YOU'LL EVER BE, SO ENJOY THIS DAY WHILE IT LASTS.
         “Do Not Regret Growing Older.
                 It is a Privilege Denied to Many.”
An Eagle Kiss
The power of touch!
This is the kind  of story you need when it seems like the world  is
spiralling out of control…..
Not many people get a picture of this proud bird
snuggled up next to them!
Freedom and JeffFreedom and I have been together 11 years this summer.
She came in as a baby in 1998 with two broken wings.
Her left  wing doesn't open all the way even after surgery,
it was broken in 4 places. She's my baby.
 When Freedom came in she could not stand
and both  wings were broken. She was
emaciated and covered in lice. We made the
decision to give her a chance at life, so I took
her to the vet's office. From then
on, I was always around her. We had her in a
huge dog carrier with the top off, and it
was loaded up with shredded newspaper for her to
lay in. I used to sit and talk to her,
urging her to live, to fight; and she would lay
there looking at me with those big brown eyes.
We also had to tube feed her for weeks.
This went on for 4-6 weeks, and by then she still
couldn't stand. It got to the point where the
decision was made to euthanasia her
if she couldn't stand in a week.  You know you don't
want to cross that line between torture and
rehab, and it looked like death was
winning. She was going to be put
down that Friday, and I was supposed to come in
on that Thursday afternoon. I didn't want to go
to the centre that Thursday, because I couldn't
bear the thought of her being euthanasia;
but I went anyway, and when I walked in everyone
was grinning from ear to ear. I went
immediately back to her cage; and there she  was,
standing on her own, a big beautiful
eagle. She was ready to live. I was
just about in tears by then. That
was a very good day.
We knew she could never fly, so the  director
asked me to glove train her.
I got her used to the glove,
and then to jesses, and we started
doing education programs for schools
in western Washington .
We wound up in the newspapers,
radio (believe it or not) and some
TV. Miracle Pets even did a show
about us.
In the spring of 2000, I was diagnosed with
non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. I had stage 3,
which is not good (one major organ plus
everywhere), so I wound up doing 8 months of
chemo. Lost the hair - the whole
bit.  I missed a lot of work. When I
felt good enough, I would go to Sarvey
and take Freedom out for walks. Freedom would
also come to me in my dreams and help me fight
the cancer. This happened time and time again.
Fast forward to November 2000
the day after Thanksgiving,
I went in for my last checkups.
I was told that if the cancer was not
all gone after 8 rounds of chemo, then my last
option was a stem cell transplant.  Anyway, they
did the tests; and I had to come back Monday for
the  results. I went in Monday, and I was
told that all the cancer was gone.
So the first thing I did was get up to Sarvey and
take the big girl out for a walk. It was misty
and cold. I went to her flight and jessed her
up, and we went out front to the top of the
hill. I hadn't said a word to
Freedom, but somehow she knew. She looked at me
and wrapped both
her wings around me to where I
could feel them pressing in on my back
(I was engulfed in eagle wings), and she
touched my nose with her beak and stared into my
eyes, and we just  stood there like that
for I don't know how long. That was a
magic moment. We have been soul mates ever
since she came in. This is a very special  bird.
On a side note: I have had people who
were sick come up to us when we are out, and
Freedom has some kind of hold on
them. I once had a guy who was
terminal come up to us and
I let him hold her.
His knees just about buckled and he
swore he could feel her power course through his
body. I have so many stories like that..
I never forget the honor I have of being so close
to such a magnificent spirit as Freedom.
Hope you enjoyed this!
Cancer is a strange cell.
You can go along for years in remission
and then one day it pops its head up again.
If you ever have it you will never be  free of it.
