‘Nerthanjali’, Town Hall, Avissawella, Sri Lanka. DDD 3771 Nayyandi vannama Kuweni.

'Kuweni' was a Queen of the mythical Yaksha clan of Sri Lanka. When the outlawed Prince Vijaya arrived from Lala in India, he was enchanted by Kuweni and took her to wife. Kuweni betrayed her own clan to Prince Vijaya, who defeated the Yaksha clan in battle. Vijaya wanted to marry a Princess of royal lineage, from South India and threw Kuweni out of his house. The heart broken Kuweni returns with her children, to seek succor with her clan. The angry Yaksha clan turns on her and kills her. The children are spared and according to legend become the 'Veddhas' - the aboriginal tribes of Sri Lanka.

This dance sequence relives the Queen Kuweni's last moments.
It is titled ' Kuwenige vilaapaya' - 'The wail of Kuweni'

Beautiful thoughts for the New Year

Sign on a tree in Madrid

I am the warmth of the hearth on cold winter nights.
I am the shade screening you from the hot summer sun.
My fruits and restoring drinks quench your thirst as you journey onward.
I am the beam that holds your house;
The bed on which you lie and the timber that builds your boat.
I am the handle of your hoe,
The wood of your cradle,
The shell of your coffin.

Seasons Greetings for 2016

From: Dawood
To: 1960 medical batch Colombo <1960batch@gmail.com>
Life is full of surprises.
Happy story for the day Look carefully in each picture for the cat as it makes its way down from the roof to the dog. Then, check the explanation at the end.

Could not download the pictures in collage form

The story behind this picture is this: Every day - at the same time - she waits for him. Sometimes she barks to call him. He comes; they rub and greet each other and they go for a walk.
They have done this for 5 years and no, they don't belong to the same owners.
The owners didn't know until neighbors, seeing them together so frequently, commented to the cat's owner, who then followed the dog home and discovered it was a distance away, not in a house close by or next door.
How it started no one knows.
Wouldn't it be great to have friends like this always there, no words needed, they just intuitively recognize the value of each other in their lives and act accordingly. Live, Laugh, Love???

Life is not the way it's supposed to be. It's the way it is.

The way we cope with it is what makes the difference.
A wise person once said...
There comes a time in life, when you walk away from all the drama and people who create it.
You surround yourself with people who make you laugh, forget the bad, and focus on the good.
So love the people, who treat you right,

pray for the ones who don't.

Life is too short to be anything but happy.

Falling down is a part of life, getting back up is

living.

Season's Greetings

May you have peace & Happiness in 2016

Service to others is the rent we pay for our room here on earth- Muhammad Ali
Best regards
Dawood

PS
Our wishes to you all for a happy prosperous peaceful 2016.

"The Little Drummer Boy" (originally known as "Carol of the Drum") is a popular Christmas song written by the American classical music composer and teacher Katherine Kennicott Davis in 1941.[1] It was recorded in 1955 by the Trapp Family Singers[2] and further popularized by a 1958 recording by the Harry Simeone Chorale. This version was re-released successfully for several years and the song has been recorded many times since.[3]
In the lyrics the singer relates how, as a poor young boy, he was summoned by the Magi to the nativity where, without a gift for the infant Jesus, he played his drum with the Virgin Mary's approval, remembering "I played my best for Him" and "He smiled at me."
