Three pre-historic cave dwellings in the centre of Sri Lanka namely, Belli Lena in Deraniyagala, Batadomba Lena in Kuruwita and Fa Hien Gala Lena near Horana, have had their period of occupancy by humans dated around 30,000 years before the present era. This dating was done using carbon dating techniques.
