We were behind a herd, our road, but also their track, nr
Sigiriya( 50/60 miles from colombo20/45 mts by helicopter)
We were allowed to pass after 1/2 slow miles
As we passed, one was not too happy
And charged for about a mile
Car was faster
Without turns, they (majestic Elephants)can reach 30/40mph
on st stretches.
Not use horns or go too close
Or go to a sanctuary
And watch from other side of fence
Try not to feed, can give wrong message.
If treated well
Boundaries respected, they are more civilized than many
humans
And far better, fairer than the
Ruthless , killer hunters
Who nearly made them extinct, due to the hunters gross
illiteracy.
People, are better today, not ruthless as old hunters, the
cowardly killers, who destroyed the massive herds of Graceful Elephants.
Time to erect a statue to the cowardly elephant murderers
As a reminder to preserve life
Human, elephant , included.
