In the year 1966, I have seen Marijuana plants seized by the Police on drug raids, and produced as evidence in the Magistrate's courts, Moneragala, Sri Lanka, being destroyed by burning in the District Court premises. Quite a few Marijuana addicts would gather round the bonfire, taking deep breaths, with the amused Policemen watching nearby.
