There are three places in present Sri Lanka which have undergone Archeological studies re Pre-historifc human settlements. They are
1. 'Paahiyan Gala' in Horana of easy access from Colombo.
2. 'Beli Lena' -in Kithulgala off the road to Hatton from Avissawella
3. 'Bata Dombe Lena' in Kuruwita off the road from Avissawella - Rathnapura road. Arduous climb when I did it 20 years ago.
