for the article. Prof. Ranasinghe's wife Anne was Jewish. She was sent
off to England from Germany when Hitler came to power. Her entire family
died in the Holocaust. She became a famous writer and poetess of Sri
Lanka.There is a record by Greek writers of a Synagogue in the ancient
port of Mannar where a few Jews were resident, at the beginning of the
Present Era.
