Haththakuchchi, Sri Lanka, a visit.

Haththakuchchi, meaning an elephant's belly in Pali, refers to the shape of a large rock at this site. This is an ancient monastery of the Anuradhapura Era of Sri Lankan history. t is claimed to be the place where  the deposed King Sri Sangabo lived in hiding. This is where he offered his head to a poor farmer to claim his reward for finding the fugitive King.
On the road to Anuradhapura from Paadeniya you have to turn off near Galgamuwa to the left to reach this archeological reserve. It is accessible by a good road.
