Dear all
Since I would not be able to be at the get together I have kept a low profile but have followed the correspondence closely. and I admire the enthusiasm. But as Dawood and Nana have pointed out The Sri Lankan doctors Association in UK has been providing journals and books to all the medical faculties in Sri Lanka in fairly substantial amounts for well over 25 years. This I know having been the founder treasurer.
I do not want to discourage what is being done. Carry on with the venture

Dear Nana,
I am all for the plan you have outlined for a donation from the Class of 60 to the med. faculty.Since my health is still an issue ( although i am making plans to be at the Habarana Conf: in July ),I would like to send you my cheque for £100.00. if you agree to handle this, please let me have your address.
Kind regards,
Ranee

Dear Dawood
Thanks for your support and concerns.
If there is a will there is a way. Hope this is still true and our collective response should prove it either way.

Nana

ana,
Sorry I didn't point this out earlier,
100 X 200 = 20,000 and NOT 200,000.!!
200 !! being the size of the batch,
The expected donation per head would
be in the region of 1000 X 200 !! = 200,000
Do you think this would be a realistic number to work with !
The Jaya bookshop quotation for the books required by the Librarian
is 64,000/=.,
this is the approximate cost per couple for the Habarana
get together!!
it works out to about Rs. 300/= per person ifor a batch of 200 assuming 100% participation
I hope this would help keep matters in perspective
Please correct me if I am wrong!
Dawood
