Looking back in time, Sri Lanka.

Lakshman Karalliedde, our batch-mate of the 1960 intake, Colombo Medical Faculty, Sri Lanka, Publications.
Lakshman has been rather busy, in his later years – publishing. His latest attempt is
the following.
My daughter
Queenie, who is a Consultant Anaesthetist, at the Base Hospital, Avissawella,
Sri Lanka says that there was an urgent need, for a ready reference book of this
nature, in the Primary care and Intensive care units. This was because of the
present habit of doctors, prescribing a plethora of drugs, especially for the
elderly. I endorse this view.
While on the
subject of Dr. Lakshman Karalliedde, I would like to highlight some of his
publications, as seen on the web-links below.

Don't Drink and Travel in Sri Lanka
email from JKS Weerasekera.
Three drunkards, after a session in a Colombo bar , arm in arm, stagger on to the Colombo Fort railway station platform.
Just as the train was about to
leave, a porter manages to bundle two of them aboard the train that
was moving out of the station, but was unable to cope with the third
man, who stands there sadly watching the train disappear.
"Sorry", said the
porter, "but I just didn't have time to get you onto the train".
"Yes," said the
stranded traveler, "My friends will be sorry too - they were
here to see me off" !
