Hi Philip

It is with sadness that we report the death of another of our batchmates- Dr M.A.C Perera. He was  rather quite but a very sincere and a friendly colleague. He was at Kithyakara Medical Student Hostel and after graduation, migrated to UK where he was a very successful GP in Wembley.

As I recollect, he returned to Sri Lanka around 2003.

In case you have not seen his obituary notice ( which appear in Daily News 9th June 2012), I attach a copy for information.

May he rest in peace.

Nana

A homage to Goddess 'Saraswathy', Wathupitiwala, Sri Lanka.

The beginning
The end

Me and my wife were invited to witness a cultural programme put up by the staff of the Wathupitiwala Base Hospital. It started at 6.30pm and ended around 9.30pm of the 29th May 2012. I videoed this on my Fuju HS20 camera. It was a lovely performance. I was really moved by it. It was a revelation of the talent present among the young Doctors, Nurses and ancillary staff. Please watch the dance sequence on the video below. Listen to the recorded song sung by Pandith W D Amaradewa. Listen to the words and their meaning. I am sure that you will enjoy it.

Geri's joke at a party

A group of female professionals were playing golf. There were some males watching the proceedings. One pretty player took a beautiful swing and connected. The ball went flying and struck one of the male watchers close by. The man doubled up in agony holding both hands and covering his crotch, let out a wail in agony. The female players surrounded him. They said we have a doctor among us. Do not feel shy she will have a look at your injury. Before you knew it his trousers were pulled down and the female doctor felt around and examined his genitals. He was asked 'How do you feel now?'. He replied abashed 'I am feeling fine but it is my thumb which was struck by the golf ball'
