Hot drinks and cancer of the oesophagus.

 PS
As a practicing surgeon in Sri Lanka, I have gained an impression that there was a high incidence of cancer of the oesophagus among the tea estate workers, in central Sri Lanka. Anaemia and avitaminosis will also play a large part in contributing to the disease among these workers, but they also have this habit of drinking frequent quantities of boiling hot tea with no milk, while on the field.

Don't Drink and Travel in Sri Lanka

email from JKS Weerasekera.

Three drunkards, after a session in a Colombo bar , arm in arm, stagger on to  the Colombo Fort  railway station platform.

Just as the train was about to leave, a  porter manages to bundle two of them aboard the train  that was moving out of the station, but  was unable to cope with the third man, who stands there sadly watching the train disappear.

"Sorry", said the porter, "but I just didn't have time to get you onto the train".
"Yes," said the stranded traveler, "My friends will be sorry too - they were here to see me off" !
