Photo for the Batch 1960 entrants gallery

Please send a photo of yourself taken recently for the 1960 entrants Batch Photo gallery.
Please send it to

If you have already sent one please ignore this message.

email from Bernard

Donations

It is heartening to see this kind of response.

To be certain,

Transfer funds, via local contacts,[preferably via the local alumni group, and local bank contacts]

Define the uses as intended by the donor.

I have seen many examples of the funds not being used or the gift, not used properly[observed much of this post tsunami]

Do not remain anonymous[unless absolutely necessary]

This leaves room or abuse,

As is common in Lanka and the rest of the world.

It is not confined to Lanka or the east,

Money,,donations,tend to create room for

Corruption and abuse.

Create a path for proper checks and balances.

Songs for the get to-gether

A suggestion has been made by Chitra Gallege that suggestions of titles of old songs of our Medical College era be sent to the batch e.mail - 1960Batch@gmail.com.-.
These could be English, Sinhalese or Tamil songs.
The organisers will make an effort to get the words and music of these songs so that they could be compiled for singing at our get-together.
The words will be printed phonetically in English to facilitate all the groups.

Copy of email to Nalini from Librarian, Colombo Faculty.

Dear Dr. Nalika Rodrigo,

With reference telephone conversation you had with me, I would like to send requested information.

Funds can be made by cheque or it can be done by electronically.

The cheque should be drawn in favour of “Faculty of Medicine, University of Colombo” . Cheque can be sent to Librarian, Medical Library, Faculty of Medicine, University of Colombo, Kynsey Road, Colombo 08, with a covering letter mentioning that funds should be utilized for the subscription of Books & Journals. Then the Senior Assistant Bursar of the faculty should have authority to transfer the money to the “Library Development Funds” ledger account that is maintained by the Faculty of Medicine.

Money can be transferred by electronically, using the following information.

Bank Account Name: Faculty of Medicine, University of Colombo

Bank Name: Peoples Bank

Bank Branch Name: Townhall branch

Bank Account Number: 167-1001-1317-0313

Swist code: PSBKLKLXA 023

Please make request from the donors to send a letter including electronic transaction detail, to the Librarian, Medical Library, Faculty of Medicine, University of Colombo, Colombo 8. That kind of letter will be helped to transfer money to our Library development Funds.

I suppose, detail I have given is enough now. Please contact me for further verification.

Thank you.

Yours sincerely

Chandrani Kuruppu

Sankaranarayana in 2010 and in 1960.

Copy of email from Tissa and Nalini

Dear Sanjay,

Could you please arrange to have 4 computers as specified by the librarian at the Medical Faculty for collection during the first week of July through your associates. I hope to be in Colombo during that time would arrange payment then. Please let me know what the final amount is.

I am assuming that the suppliers would ensure that the appropriate networks etc are set up so that the computers would be fully functional. If the librarian is satisfied with their operation I would like four more units to be delivered in October hopefully at the same price.

Many thanks for your assistance in this matter. Your help is much appreciated.

Best wishes,

Tissa Kappagoda

Wow! This is absolutely amazing! ( I didnt want to embarrass you by saying YOU are amazng - though we all know you are - in many ways!). So we'll just say a simle & heartfelt THANK YOU!
