Organizing committee meeting in Kandy.
Minutes of the meeting of the Organising committee of the Medical Batch 1960 Get -together held on the 9th of March 2010 at Dr Kapuwatta’s residence.
Those present were

Minutes of the previous meeting was read and adopted.
. The programme of events of the Get- tother was discussed in detail .
The relevant points are as follows
1. The charges for advertising in the souvenir was conveyed by Dr Kapuwatta.

2. Dr Bernard de Silva has on many occasions expressed his willingness to meet the short fall in the cost of producing the souvenir. It was decided that we request a sum of Rs 3oooo/=from him, based on the expenses that were incurred last time.
3. Cost of the Band for the Gala dinner was given as Rs 85000/=.Dr Duru is in charge.
4.Re Hotel Bookings : as of the afternoon of 9th March2010 , 71 rooms have been confirmed as having been booked.
6. Dr Jayalath de silva has posted 16 letters to local batch mates who are not in touch via email or otherwise. He has received responses only from a few. There are others whom we believe have not been contacted at all. Dr Jayalath will give the names of those not contacted to Dr Kapuwatte so that he can take it up at the meeting in Colombo.

Drs V Abeynayake, ,Pearl Milicent Dias, Motilal Gunaratne, Therese Kariyawasam(Pereira) and K.A.J.P.Fernando (Anton) Any information regarding them from our Batchmates would be appreciated.

7. A 50% discount on hotel charges (full board) is available to anyone on request . Also a package for participation for one day ( Saturday 3rd) is in place.
8. Dr Nalini Rodrigo will be in charge of organizing the Clinjcal sessions
9. Dr Jayakuru has received a sum of Rs 10000/= as sponsorship from USV. Other drug firms such as Ranbaxy ,etc are expected to sponsor the event.
10. As for the Peduru Party / Bajau Party , Dr Kapuwatte will organize it with help from the hotel staff. He is in touch with a DJ whom he recommends strongly. The cost is Rs 10000/= for the evening.. It is hoped that we get print outs of a few chosen Golden Oldies ( in all 3 languages if possible ) and get everyone to participate in singing..
In the alternative a musical band is also being looked into.
Dress for the Peduru Party is a Smart Sarong and Shirt for gents and Redda or Lungi and Hette (Blouse) for the ladies . For those who may forget to purchase these items in time , there is a shop within the Hotel premises itself where these items are available for sale. Kapu says he will arrange special rates for our batchmates.
11.Dress for Gala dinner is Smart casual.
12. Transport arrangements, from Colombo to Habarana and back , will be handled by Dr Ranjen Fernando who did an excellent job last time.

13. Dr Kapuwatta has been informed of the cost of accommodation in Trinco Hotel. They are as follows for a Double Room.
A/C Deluxe room ---- Full board per day is Rs 20000/=
A/C alone room ---- as above Rs 16000/=
There may be a small discount on this amount which you may have to discuss with M/S Indu Chandrawansa.
